Kathy Nisbet

Kathy is a Health Coach who LOVES practising what she preaches – especially when it comes to competing in sports! Historically Kathy has competed in many endurance-related sports events (including placing first in her last Multisport event; Marathons and Ultra-Endurance Cycling 200 & 250km events), however as she continually learns more about the human body and its capabilities through her studies and influences, Kathy opted for a change in 2013 and started Bodybuilding. Kathy was fascinated to see how this mode of training could complement her health, fitness, physique and bring greater balance to her busy life. Generally, she finds bodybuilding takes up less time than traditional training for her chosen endurance events particularly given increased time constraints to train with two toddlers. Kathy is passionate about the science behind Bodybuilding and enjoys the creativity that comes with the “sculpting” side of things.

Kathy has competed in several bodybuilding competitions in the Figure/Physique category in NSW, placing third in her second competition.

Wayne Dickinson – SXC Racing

Wayne Dickinson is the 2013 Australian Marathon Champion in the Masters category. He is also a key member of Sydney XC Racing Team.

Wayne comes alive in the outdoors. He lives for riding, traveling, encouraging his fellow riders, and improving his own performance abilities.

2014 was a big year for Wayne, as it saw him lift the trophy in the Singletrack Mind Series (4 Hour Masters) and competing in the ultra-competitive ABSA Cape Epic.

Wayne is working hard to ensure that great things happen in 2015. Follow www.sxcracing.com to stay up to date with all his achievements.

MTB’g and the great outdoors outdoors in general is entrenched as part of my life. I love riding, seeing new places, riding with a great group of inspired people, encouraging others and improving my own abilities as a result. MTB’g and the friends I have met through this adventure have contributed to me as a person.

On the competition side of things, competing / racing is what drives me to new levels. It continually encourages me to challenge what is possible. As a result I have been very fortunate, culminating in the winning of the 2013 Australian Marathon Championships for my age category. This launched a successful campaign in 2014, not just finishing but competing in the largest MTB race of them all the Absa Cape Epic.

My results and the family and friends who have made this possible, have challenged me to set new goals and achievements. 2015 is already looking exciting, with the 2015 Australian Marathon Championships before heading to Europe to compete in the 2015 Craft Transalp.

Looking forward to another year of hard work, and all the benefits and inspiration that result. Join me on the journey !

I will leave you with a quote that both drives and inspires me:
“Only those who will risk going too far can possibly find out how far one can go”

Anthony Shippard

Anthony Shippard is a man on a mission. Not content with just being an Elite cyclist, Anthony is also dedicated to performance improvement and coaching. All of which makes him a perfect ambassador for Pure Edge products.

Anthony begun his professional career as a Triathlete in Great Britain and France, but it’s pure riding that courses through his veins. Competing at the very highest levels (World, European, National, and French Grand Prix) has given him a broad skillset, and even today he can still be seen racing in Cross-Country, Enduro, and Road Criteriums.

However, his laser focus is on the ultimate challenge of marathon mountain biking, where his incredible stamina is best suited. He has garnered consecutive top 5 finishes in the National XCM series in Australia and New Zealand.

The 2014 season saw Anthony finish 6th in the Elite Maverick Marathon Series, including a 2nd place at the 3 Ring Circus Marathon in July, a 6th place in the Capital Punishment, and then a 4th place finish with his teammate, in the season ending Hellfire Cup in Tasmania.

If that wasn’t enough, this was a season in which Anthony also got married and took time away from the bike to focus on business commitments.
Over the past four years, Anthony has taken his expertise to the field of coaching. His athletes, among some of the best mountain bike and Cyclo-Cross riders in Australia, have won multiple state and national competitions and titles, across all genders, age-groups, and levels.

It was his keen desire to ensure maximum performance and training outcomes, that brought Anthony to Pure Edge – as his holistic approach to performance improvement and training was perfect for the nutritional support that Pure Edge offers.

2015 is set to be a massive year for Anthony and Pure Edge.

Jason English

Jason English is one of Australia’s most celebrated elite cross country mountain bikers.

He has had success in a range of different types of mountain bike races.

He has experience stage racing and has won the Alice Springs Stage Race, came second in the WA Cape to Cape and has won the Mountains to Beach 3 times.

In marathon races he has won or placed on the podium in most races at least once and has taken home the National Title on two occasions.

Jason is more well known for his 24hr racing where he has won the National 24 Hour Championships from 2008 – 2015, the World Championships from 2009 – 2016, the Scott 24hr from 2008 – 2015 and the New Zealand National Championship for 2015.

Other achievements last season included:
Runner up – national marathon series 2015
MTBA mountain biker of the year 2015
MTBA XCM / 24hr rider of the year 2015
Evocities Series Winner Elite Men 2015

With Jason and his wife Jen now sporting 2 kids training needs to be more purposeful and time effective. While Jason has previously relied on his own crazy training methods and techniques his commitments off the bike are important to him (and so they should be!).

With such a focus on endurance racing nutrition is all important to Jason being able to train harder, perform strongly and recover faster.

When it comes to training, there aren’t many athletes that spend as much time on the bike as Jason. When the alarm goes off at 4am Jason needs to feel fresh and recovered for the next training session and with a wife as a dietitian, nutrition is always on his mind.

When squeezing in as many kilometres as possible into a training session before work, Jason can’t afford the time taken to construct his ideal recovery meal. When time permits he will have 5 containers or more on the bench ready to mix in a breakfast bowl. There will often be protein powder, chia seeds, linseed meal, oats, bran or assortments of other organic high fibre hippy food products. After discovering the ingredients in the Pure Edge products, Jason now comes home from a ride, scoops in Re-Load combined with vanilla Pure Native WPI (whey) protein isolate and mixes it into low fat yoghurt. Fast breakfast for a fast recovery and faster transition to work!
